The Dreaded Screen

I guess I expected just as much. I made a furnace, was smelting some of my iron ore, in which I used some to mine some gold, then while I went back towards the entrance of my giant cave a little bit, I found some more iron that I was mining. All of a sudden, I was attacked by... something. I don't even know what - exactly. All I know is that this world is done. I was just about to make some gold armor too... Oh well,  I guess that's the point of hardcore mode.

Curiosity is Calling to Me

I found a couple things in this giant, dark opening inside this cave. Some ore (including gold and redstone), water, lava, and of course: monsters (creepers and zombies to be exact). I wish I could go down and fight them off, but I know my half a heart won't even let me survive the fall. I need to go back up and eat. Like a fable in which the hero swears to avenge his father's murderer when he's older, I'll be back.

Trying to Hold On...

I'm down to half a heart. I fell again as I was trying to pass by some lava, I'm lucky I didn't fall into it or any further down. I know I should go back up and look for some food, but the temptation that these unexplored caves give me is hard to pass up. I keep moving deeper, as if I know that I'm just moving closer to my death. This might be my last living post. We'll see...

Close to Death

In this same cave system, I was making some steps to get down to a lower area when I fall off the side of a cobblestone block. I fall to the bottom of this waterfall where a creeper has been watching me this whole time. He blows up, directly in front of me, and drops me down to 1 1/2 hearts. I need health. But I want to keep moving deeper into this cave. I don't know what else could be down here, but I'm even more worried about what's up on the surface at the moment.

First Cave

This first cave system is quite large. I was very lucky to stumble upon it, completely by accident, in the first second of creating the world. There is a large amount of coal and a good amount of iron in here. I think I'm going to craft a sword now. This cave is too large for there to not be any monsters inside... (also, forgive my idiocy, I don't know why the very first screenshot I put on here was of my pause screen. I didn't realize it until after I got into this current cave, and I feel going back up, finding my spawn point, and retaking it would just waste too much precious time.)

Birth.

The birth of my world and character is accompanied by a horrible spawn point: on top of sand blocks with nothing solid underneath. I fall slightly down and realize there's a cave right near me. First things first: punch some trees. I'm going to crawl out of this hole and get some wood. I must then look for coal to make torches for the night. I'm playing this world in the "hardcore mode", meaning if I die, I delete the world. This being said, I need to be pretty careful with my adventure (I am also playing this world on the hardest difficulty). Wish me luck, I will now try to ascend to the surface.
